紀伯倫（1883～1931）黎巴嫩詩人，散文家，畫家。1883年1月6日生於北部山鄉蔔舍裡，1931年4月10 日卒於美國紐約。12 歲時隨母去美國波士頓貧民區 ，進入僑民學校 。兩年後回國，進貝魯特希克瑪（ 睿智 ）學校學習阿拉伯文、法文和繪畫 。其間曾創辦《真理》雜誌，態度激進。1908 年發表小說《叛逆的靈魂》，激怒了當局，作品遭到查禁焚毀，本人被逐 ，再次前往美國 。後去法國 ，在巴黎藝術學院學習繪畫和雕塑，曾得到藝術大師羅丹的獎掖。1911年重返波士頓；次年遷往紐約，專門從事文學藝術創作活動。逝世後遺體被運回祖國，在家鄉安葬。

有錢人認識紀伯倫, 是從他的"鯨魚與蝴蝶"一書開始, 個人認為, 紀伯倫的文章與他寫的故事, 時而簡易, 時而抽象難明, 但當細心品嘗的時候好似領會到一點一滴, 那份微微的鬱澀, 卻帶著一絲絲甘味, 就好像行過了萬千里沙漠的路, 最後找得到了水源般.

尤其是 <先知> 一書, 看著的時候, 實在有說不出的共嗚, 也有很多啟發, 下列就跟大家分享<先知>裡有關孩子的一段:

一位懷抱嬰兒的婦女說，請給我們講講孩子。

　　他說道：

　　你們的孩子並不是你們的孩子。

　　他們是生命對自身的渴求的兒女。

　　他們借你們而來，卻不是因你們而來。
